LinkedIn headline and About section that get recruiter messages
Recruiters search LinkedIn by job title and skill, then read your headline in the results list and your About section on the profile. Both are copy, not biography. Here is the formula and examples you can adapt.
Headline formula (220 characters)
Title you want to be found for · 2–3 skills or domains · one proof point. Example: "Senior Backend Engineer · Kotlin & Kafka · Building fast, reliable e-commerce at scale". Avoid "Open to work" in the headline – use the LinkedIn banner for that – and avoid adjectives like "passionate" that nobody searches for.
Headline examples
- Product Designer · Mobile & design systems · Shipped apps used by 2M people
- Marketing Manager · B2B SaaS demand gen · +120% leads on the same budget
- Engineering Team Lead · Payments · Fintech · Hiring and SLO culture
- Financial Analyst · FP&A, Power BI, IFRS · Big4 background
- DevOps Engineer · Kubernetes & Terraform · 99.98% uptime across 200 services
- HR Business Partner · 500+ orgs · Cut attrition 30% in two years
About section: 120–200 words, first person
Paragraph 1: what you do and for whom, in one sentence. Paragraph 2: two or three achievements with numbers, each one line. Paragraph 3: what you care about in your work and what you are looking for next. End with how to reach you.
Write "I", not "he/she". Keep every sentence under 20 words. Do not repeat your CV's job list – the Experience section below does that.
About section example
"I build backend systems that stay fast when traffic spikes. For 7 years I have worked on payments and e-commerce, most recently leading the migration of a checkout core to Kotlin, which cut latency by 40%. I care about clean architecture, good on-call culture and mentoring engineers. If your team runs high-traffic marketplace services, let's talk."
Keep it consistent with your CV
Recruiters open both. Same titles, same dates, same numbers. RezuYes writes the LinkedIn headline, About section and an open-to-work post from the same facts as your CV, so they never contradict each other.
